I want to share the free advertising methods I know they do work.
Signature lines
Join online forums and include your url in the signature line when you send out emails. Add your signature to your email and send email forwards. Send funny jokes, short interesting stories, recipes etc. People will forward your email (with your signature) and you might get customers that way.
Traffic Exchanges
If you don't know what that is a traffic exchange is a site where you can enter your urls and surf for traffic to your sites. For every site you view you earn credits to display your url. When you visit a site others will in turn visit yours.
Some are 1:1 or 2:1 which means with a 1:1 exchange for every 1 site you view you get one visit to your site. For a 2:1 exchange site for every two sites you view you get one visitor. The sites have a timer that you have to stay on until it ends until you get credit. Manual sites are better because you have to actually look at the site to get to next site to get credit which means someone will have to look at your site.
I used to do more traffic exchanges but I don't do a lot of them much any more. I have gotten business for my sites with traffic exchanges so they do work. I highly suggest using Firefox if you don't already because you can have multiple tabs up at once and do all the sites at once. They are free but if you want to upgrade you can pay money to get automatic credits and other benefits.
Here are some good traffic exchanges I've used
Traffic Swarm
Traffic Roundup
Fast Freeway
These aren't traditional traffic exchanges but with these sites you put the html code (banner) in your blog or website and if someone signs up they will see your urls
Traffic Digger
T-2000 Ultra
Free Viral
I actually prefer the normal exchanges but with the ones I just listed you don't have to really do much other than set up your url and put the codes in your sites.
Blogs
To get more traffic get the url on everything (business cards, signatures, traffic exchanges, etc) Visit other peoples blogs and leave comments. I personally don't like to blatantly advertise my urls when I leave comments. If I come across a blog I like I'll just write something like "nice blog" or "nice pics" Usually the person will click my name which takes them to check out my blog. I have gotten sign ups that way. I only use blogger so I don't know how other blog platforms work.
Each time you update your blog you should "ping" it. Ping just means you are sending your updated information to the search engines. Your blog service might already do this but I like to do it any way just in case. I use Pingoat and Ping-o-matic.
Use blog directories. To get more traffic to your blog you can sign up for a few blog directories. Blog Skinny has hundreds of blog directories to sign up for. After you sign up you add the code for their button and add it to your blog to get more traffic that way.
Advertising with PTR/PTC sites
Paid to read (PTR) or Paid to click (PTC) sites are cheap ways of advertising to hundreds or even thousands of people. I used to do a lot of PTR and PTC sites for the money (which isn't much) but now I am focusing on using them as advertising. I do just enough to buy advertising.
You can sign up as a member and get paid to click on the ads for cash or use your earnings to redeem for advertising, or just sign up as an advertiser and buy ad package.
You advertise by sending emails to the members or buying banner impressions. The ads will be sent to the members who read the emails so your site will get exposure. They're very cheap. Depending on how many ads or banner impressions it's anywhere from $1 and up
With PTC sites the price for ads is usually a little higher but it's basically the same thing. You can also convert your earnings to ads for most of the PTC sites. Some you can some you can't. With both types of sites if you don't use your earnings you pay for the ads through PayPal.
Here are some PTR and PTC sites I have used to advertise with (there's lots more if you want all the sites I do just email me and I'll send them)
Applebizs
Donkeymails
Honey Advertiser Pro
Clixsense
Link Grand
Wordlinx
Business Cards
I know I don't have to tell you the benefit of business cards but I just wanted to share a cheap way to get them. If you go to VistaPrint you can get 250 for FREE! I remember only paying a small shipping fee something like $5.
Free Classifieds
Here are some free places to put in ads. Craigslist everyone knows about. Just be careful with trying to place the same exact add in different places because it will get rejected. Just change up some words or the title and it will work. Backpage.com is less strict than Craigslist. Classifiedsforfree is another site. I have a list of a lot more sites just email me and I'll send it to you.
